Run across Rip Van Winkle Bridge tonight

Hudson Area Library is happy to announce it will host “Run the Rip,” a one-mile run/walk across the Rip Van Winkle Bridge walkway, at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 26. 

The event, co-sponsored by the New York State Bridge Authority, is free and participation is limited to the first 50 people who register. Participants must register to take part. To register, please call the library at (518) 828-1792, extension 100. 

All participants will receive a free “Run the Rip” T-shirt and $5 off registration for the Ghostly Gallop, an annual 5k road race that benefits the Hudson Area Library and is part of USA Track and Field’s Adirondack Region Grand Prix. This year’s Ghostly Gallop takes place Sunday, October 21, beginning and ending at Hudson Junior/Senior High School. 

Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities are welcome to “Run the Rip,” an informal, self-timed event in which runners and walkers will start individually at specified intervals. The event will start promptly at 6:30 p.m. July 26. Parking for participants is in the Bridge Authority lot on the Greene County side of the bridge, which spans the Hudson River between Hudson and Catskill.
