Press Release – Stabbing at Half Moon Bar

On Monday August 27, 2018, around 2am, The City of Hudson Police Department received a call from Columbia County 911 reporting they are taking an EMS call for a subject with lacerations to the stomach at 48 South Front Street Hudson, NY (Half Moon Bar)

Hudson Police patrols responded and located a 39 yr. old male, in his 30’s with large and severe lacerations to his chest and stomach areas. The victim is a Hudson resident.

Greenport Rescue Squad arrived on scene and determined the victim needed to be transported to Albany Medical Center for treatment.

Patrol units on scene began to interview witnesses and determined there was a physical altercation within the Half Moon Bar between the victim and a man who fled the scene.

Patrol contacted the Detective Sergeant who responded along with the members of the Detectives Division. The Columbia County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and a search warrant was, applied for and signed by a Greene County Court Judge.

The search warrant was executed at 42 South Front St., Apt. 4, the suspect’s residence. Julian Omar Smith, 35 yrs old, of Hudson was located within his apartment and was detained. At this time he is charged with Assault 2nd and two (2) counts Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th. Additional charges forthcoming.

Defendant was awaiting arraignment at the time of this press release.

Assisting in the investigation where the Columbia County District Attorney Paul Czajka, Columbia County 911 Center, New York State Police Livingston, Greenport Rescue Squad and the Greene County County Court Judges.

We collected a whole smorgasbord of what we believe to be illegal drugs to include ecstasy, THC concentrated wax, mushrooms, marijuana, cocaine, LSD, and some pills we have yet to identify.
