SHERIFF’S OFFICE INVESTIGATE PERSONAL INJURY ACCIDENT

IN KINDERHOOK

Kinderhook, NY- Columbia County Sheriff David P. Bartlett reports that on August 30, 2018 at approximately 7:00am, Deputy Sheriffs were dispatched by Columbia County 911 for a two vehicle personal injury accident on State Route 9H, at the intersection with Keegan Road in the Town of Kinderhook.

Deputies found that a 2001 Ford Escape, operated by 46 year old Timothy Cowin of Hudson NY, was driving northbound on State Route 9H and made a left turn onto Keegan Road, crossing into the path of a 2017 Nissan Altima. The Altima, operated by 27 year old Amy Koo of Troy NY, was traveling southbound on State Route 9H and was struck by the Ford in the southbound lane. The impact caused the Nissan to go off the west side of the roadway and come to rest on the southbound shoulder. The Ford spun around 180 degrees and came to rest in the middle of the intersection.

Ms. Koo complained of hip and arm pain from the crash. She was transported to Columbia Memorial Hospital by Valatie Rescue Squad. There were no other injuries reported and there were no passengers in either vehicle.

Mr. Cowin was issued a ticket for failure to yield right of way in an intersection and the ticket is returnable to the Kinderhook Town Court at a later date.

Valatie Rescue Squad, Niverville Fire Department, and Columbia County Highway Department assisted at the scene.

Investigating for the Sheriff’s Office are Lieutenant Wayne Lopez, Deputy Peter Merante, and Deputy Eric Ordway.
