It was standing room only tonight, at the Greene County office building.
The Greene County Legislature voted tonight to pass two resolutions, to finance the cost of building a new County Jail. Once finished, the jail will be located off Route 9W in Coxsackie.
Majority Leader, Kevin Lewis announced that both resolutions passed by a vote of 10 to 4.
Here are the resolutions:
241-18 : As Amended Bond Resolution Of The County Of Greene, New York Authorizing The Issuance Of $39,000,000 Serial Bonds To Finance The Costs Of The Construction Of A New Greene County Jail Facility
242-18 : USDA Loan Resolution Authorizing And Providing For The Incurrence Of Indebtedness For The Purpose Of Providing A Portion Of The Cost Of Acquiring, Constructing, Enlarging, Improving, And/Or Extending A New Greene County Jail Facility To Serve An Area Lawfully Within Its Jurisdiction To Serve
The current Greene County Jail was closed in April, after the building was found not to be safe. Since then, inmates have been relocated in Columbia and Ulster Counties.
