Fire destroys Cairo home

Fire destroyed a mobile home in Cairo Saturday morning. Half a dozen Greene County fire companies were called to 1445 Rudolph Weir Junior Road just before 10:30.

Arriving units found the home fully involved. The Cairo Fire Chief says the woman who lived there was alerted to the fire by her dog. They both got out ok. Several cats were not so lucky. They died in the blaze.

There were no injuries to firefighters. They're calling the cause, Electrical.

American Red Cross Aids One After Earlton Fire

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (September 29, 2018 ) - Volunteers from the Mid-Hudson Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross provided immediate emergency aid to one person after a fire Saturday morning on Rudolph Weir, Jr. Road in Earlton, Greene County.

The Red Cross provided financial assistance for necessities such as shelter, food and clothing to one adult. Volunteers also offered emotional support and comfort kits containing personal care items. In the coming days, Red Cross staff and volunteers will remain available to help those affected by the fire as they navigate the road to recovery.
