Catskill Village court clerk accused of stealing court funds

The Catskill Police Department, after a lengthy investigation, announced the arrest of Anastasia Salerno 29 yoa of Maple Crest New York for embezzling Village of Catskill Court funds during her employment as a court clerk.

The Catskill Police Department developed information in July of 2018 of missing funds from the Village of Catskill Court. An intensive investigation by the Catskill Police Department, the Greene County District Attorney’s Office and the New York State Court Administration was initiated.

As a result of that investigation Salerno was arrested on October 12, 2018 for Tampering with Public Records in the 1st degree (a class D Felony), Falsifying Business Record in the 1st degree (a class E Felony) and Petit Larceny (a class A Misdemeanor).

Salerno was arraigned by Village of Athens Justice Constance Pazin. Salerno was ROR with the stipulation that she was under the supervision of the Greene County Probation Department. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are pending. Salerno is due back in court on December 6, 2018
