Student in Greene County charged with Making a Terroristic Threat.

Major Pierce V. GallagherTroop F Commander

State Police in Greene County investigated two school threats. In the first incident, a 16 year old student was reported to have had a gun in school on October 29, 2018. The resulting investigation revealed that the student had a BB gun which he had brought with him to the Hudson Career and Technical Education Center and then to The Cairo-Durham High School. There was no indication that the BB gun was loaded or that the student had any ammunition with it. Based on the student’s age and the circumstances of the case, there were no charges filed and any discipline will be handled by the School Administrations.

In the second incident, a 17 year old student of the Coxsackie-Athens High School, posted a video on social media indicating that he was going to blow up the school. A sweep of the school was conducted by State Police K-9 Units which resulted in no explosive devices being found. The student was taken into custody and charged with Making a Terroristic Threat (a class D Felony). He was arraigned in the Town of Coxsackie Court where he was released to his parents. State Police were assisted by the School Resource Officers from both the Greene County Sheriff’s Office and the Village of Coxsackie Police Dept.
