Catskill shooter sentenced to prison

People v. Don Fax, Jr.: Defendant was convicted of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree. He was sentenced to 5 years in State Prison and 5 years post release supervision.

On Thursday evening, June 21, 2018, shortly after 8:00 P.M., Catskill Police Department responded to the report of a gun shot fired in Hop-O-Nose. As the patrol officers arrived on the scene a second shot was heard.

The three Catskill Police Officers observed Don Lajuan Fax Jr. holding the handgun as they approached him. A foot chase ensued between the officers and Fax. Fax was taken into custody without further incident. Don Lajuan Fax 27yrs of age of Catskill NY was charged with;

Reckless Endangerment in the 1st degree a class "D" felony

Criminal Possession of a weapon 3rd a class "D" felony

Resisting Arrest a class "A" misdemeanor

Criminal Trespass in the 3rd degree a class "A" misdemeanor

2 counts of Menacing in the 2nd degree class "A" misdemeanors

Don Lajuanx Fax Jr. was remanded to the custody of the Greene County Sheriff's on $200,000 cash / $400,000 bond on the above charges

Don Lajuanx Fax Jr. also was an absconder from NYS Parole. Don Lajuanx Fax Jr. will also be held on the NYS Parole Warrant with no bail.
