FIRE INVESTIGATORS AND STATE POLICE

SPENT THE DAY TUESDAY AT THE SCENE

OF A FIRE, THAT TOOK THE LIFE OF

A HUNTER MAN. 29 YEAR OLD JERRY

MIGGS WAS CONFIRMED DEAD AT THE

SCENE, IN A TOWNHOUSE AT 113 SCRIBNER

HOLLOW ROAD. 8 FIRE COMPANIES

FOUGHT THE FULLY INVOLVED BLAZE.

CAIRO FIREFIGHTERS WERE CALLED TO A

REPORTED STRUCTURE FIRE YESTERDAY

AFTERNOON ON LAKE MILLS ROAD. A CALLED

REPORTED SEEING SMOKE COMING FROM THE

ROOF AND THE ODOR OF BURNING. IT

HAPPENED JUST AFTER 1:30. NO WORD TODAY

ON ANY DAMAGE.

IN HIS THIRD TRIAL, A STOCKPORT MAN

WAS FOUND NOT GUILTY OF RAPE, TUESDAY

IN COLUMBIA COUNTY COURT. A JURY

FOUND 44 YEAR OLD JEFFREY BARMEN NOT

GUILTY OF THE 2017 CRIME. HIS FIRST

TWO TRIALS ENDED IN HUNG JURIES.

BARMEN'S LEGAL TROUBLES ARE NOT

OVER. HE FACES SEVERAL COUNTS OF CRIMINAL

CONTEMPT. HIS TRIAL FOR THAT BEGINS NEXT

MARCH.

A CATSKILL PHYSICIAN HAS PLEAD GUILTY

TO ILLEGAL DISTRIBUTION OF OPIOIDS,

HEALTH CARE FRAUD, AGGRAVATED IDENTITY

THEFT, AND OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE.

THE U.S. ATTORNEY'S OFFICE SAYS, 50

YEAR OLD MYRA MABRY ADMITTED TO WRITING

PRESCRIPTIONS, AND HAVING A CO-CONSPIRATOR

FILL THOSE PRESCRIPTIONS AT AREA PHARMACIES.

SHE FACES UP TO 20 YEARS WHEN SHE'S SENTENCED

IN DECEMBER.

TWO ATHENS RESIDENTS FACE DRUG CHARGES,

AFTER THEIR ARREST ON WATER STREET IN

THE VILLAGE. STATE POLICE CHARGED 37 YEAR

OLD ROBERT PAGAN AND 31 YEAR OLD BRITNEY

WOOD WITH CRIMINAL POSSESSION OF A

CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE. PAGAN WAS HELD BY

POLICE. WOOD WAS GIVEN APPEARANCE

TICKETS FOR COURT.

FIRE AND RESCUE CREWS WERE ON THE SCENE

OF TWO ACCIDENTS LAST NIGHT. THE FIRST

WAS ON ROUTE 9H IN KINDERHOOK. THE SECOND

WAS ON ROUTE 23A IN HAINES FALLS. THERE

WERE INJURIES REPORTED IN BOTH CRASHES.

COLUMBIA COUNTY IS ENFORCING NEW

RECYCLING RULES STARTING THIS WEEK.

STARTING TOMORROW, IN THE TOWN OF

GREENPORT, THEY WILL NO LONGER BE

COLLECTING CONTAMINATED ITEMS. STICKERS

WILL BE PLACED ON CONTAINERS THAT HAVE

ITEMS THAT ARE UNACCEPTABLE, AND

HOUSES WITH VIOLATIONS WILL BE CONTACTED

BY MAIL.
