A LEEDS HOME WAS LOST TO FIRE FRIDAY

AFTERNOON. FIREFIGHTERS WERE CALLED

TO 40 PINE CREEK DRIVE AFTER 4:30

WHEN FLAMES WERE SEEN COMING FROM

THE HOUSE. FIRE OFFICIALS SAY THE

HOME IS A TOTAL LOSS. THERE WAS

NOBODY HOME WHEN THE FIRE BROKE

OUT. THE CAUSE IS ELECTRICAL.

EAST CHATHAM FIREFIGHTERS RESPONDED

TO REAL VIEW DRIVE IN CANAAN

YESTERDAY AFTERNOON, WHEN A VEHICLE

WENT DOWN AN EMBANKMENT AND BEGAN

SMOKING. ARRIVING UNITS FOUND THE

VEHICLE WAS NOT OCCUPIED. STATE

POLICE WERE LOOKING FOR THE DRIVER.

CREWS WERE ON THE SCENE FOR OVER THREE

HOURS.

A FORMER LIVINGSTON MAN, WHO WAS

BROUGHT BACK FROM TEXAS LAST FALL,

TO FACE CRIMINAL SEX ACT CHARGES,

WAS FOUND GUILTY FRIDAY IN COLUMBIA

COUNTY COURT. 56 YEAR OLD JOHN ACKLIN

WAS FOUND GUILTY OF SIXTEEN COUNTS

OF SEXUALLY ASSAULTING TWO CHILDREN,

TEN COUNTS OF CRIMINAL SEX ACT,

AND FOUR COUNTS OF AGGRAVATED

SEXUAL ABUSE. HE'S SCHEDULED TO BE

SENTENCED OCTOBER 4TH.

A GREENPORT WOMAN IS ACCUSED OF

VIOLATING AN ORDER OF PROTECTION IN

PHILMONT. THE COLUMBIA COUNTY SHERIFF'S

OFFICE ARRESTED 25 YEAR OLD CRYSTAL BELL

ON A WARRANT AND CHARGED HER WITH

CRIMINAL CONTEMPT. SHE WAS HELD ON

500 DOLLARS BAIL.

TWO PEOPLE WERE TREATED FOR POSSIBLE

CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING EARLY

THIS MORNING IN JEWETT. FIRE AND

RESCUE CREWS WERE CALLED TO A HOME ON

ROUTE 23A JUST BEFORE 1:30 AFTER THE

C.O. DETECTOR WENT OFF. NO WORD ON

THEIR CONDITION.

CLERMONT FIREMEN WERE ALSO CALLED

TO A CARBON MONOXIDE PROBLEM FRIDAY.

IT WAS AT A HOUSE ON WOODS ROAD.

FIREFIGHTERS VENTILATED THE BUILDING

AND WERE BACK IN SERVICE AFTER AN

HOUR.

THE ANNUAL BLACK ARTS AND CULTURAL

FESTIVAL IS THIS AFTERNOON IN HUDSON.

THE EVENT BEGINS WITH A PARADE DOWN

WARREN STREET STARTING AT 2. THE

PARADE MAKES IT'S WAY TO RIVERFRONT

PARK, WHERE THE FESTIVAL RUNS UNTIL

DARK.
